Privacy notice, edition of 26 October 2026
What Waxwing learns about you and your car, what becomes of it, and the say you keep over it. We ask for little, and none of it is for sale.
In brief
We ask for what it takes to look after one car at one address. These pages carry no ad pixels, no chat widget and no session recorder, and no other company’s code follows you from here around the web. Your details are never sold.
What you tell us
Choosing a detail day means typing in your first name, your email and your ZIP code, plus a mobile number if you want day-of calls. You also tell us about the car (its year, make and model), where it will be parked, the dates and arrival window that suit you, and anything your detailer should know.
If you ask to hear when we reach a city we don’t serve yet, we keep your email and ZIP code for that list alone.
What our own systems record
Our visitor counts run on this domain and set no cookies. They show which pages were opened, roughly which country a visit came from and what kind of device was used, and they cannot recognise you on any other website.
If a link brought you here, we note the page it sat on and any campaign tags it carried (utm_source and the like), along with an ad click identifier when the link includes one.
Photographs of your car
Your detailer photographs the car before and after each visit, and those pictures make up your photo report. We use them to show you the work and to settle a redo or a damage claim. Plates are blurred in anything we keep, and a picture of your car is never published unless you say yes.
What it is for
To answer your request and arrange the visit, to write to you about it, to keep a written trail of every promise we make you, and to learn which of our pages and advertisements deserve to stay.
Advertising, measured from our server
If an ad brought you to us and you then send a form, a short note goes from our server to that platform to say a request arrived, which is how we learn which ads earn their place. The note is kept as bare as it can be: at most a hashed copy of your email and the fact of the request.
Nothing is sent before a form goes in, nothing is sent when your browser signals Global Privacy Control, and nothing is sent once you have switched measurement off under Your privacy choices below.
Who else handles it
Two kinds of outsider see it: the firms that keep Waxwing running, each bound by contract to use it for our work alone, and the independent detailing business that will look after your car, once you keep a date with it.
- Our web host, whose servers are in the United States
- A mail delivery service for your confirmation, the photo report and our replies
- A notice service that pings our small team when a request comes in
- The card processor behind the pay link in your photo report. We never see or keep your full card number
- A phone service that routes calls to our number. We send no text messages
Never sold
Waxwing never sells personal information. Nor does it hand any over for what California law calls cross-context behavioral advertising, meaning ads aimed at you elsewhere on the web.
How long we hold it
We hold on to request records for 24 months at most. Then they are deleted, or every detail that could point to you is removed. Should Waxwing ever close, we will write to everyone on our lists and, inside 30 days, erase the personal details we hold about them.
Seeing, correcting, erasing
Email hello@waxwingla.com to ask for a copy of the information we keep on you, to have any of it corrected, or to have all of it erased. The answer comes from the same address.
When your browser sends Global Privacy Control, we take it as a standing instruction: nothing about you is sold or shared, and we won’t ask you to repeat it. Do Not Track signals change nothing on this site beyond the protections set out in this notice.
Your privacy choices
You can also switch off ad measurement for this browser with the control below. The choice is remembered on this device only, so set it again on any other browser you use.
Reading the choice saved on this browser…
For adults
Waxwing is for adults, and we never set out to gather details from anyone younger than 16. If a child’s information reaches us, we delete it.
New editions
Each revision of this notice carries a new edition date above. If the change is a significant one, we also write to the people on our lists.
